Solid State is an acoustic duo that includes a 6 string and 12 string guitar. Joseph Hwang and Josh Arak, the members of the group have been writing original songs and performing them throughout the New York music scene since 2005. They have been continually captivating audiences with their unique instrumental style. In May 2009, they released their first self-recorded instrumental EP titled Silent Stories, Vol. 1, which received much praise for their melodic compositions along with the crisp clarity of their organic sound. Picture an acoustic version of Explosions In The Sky. They also love to entertain audiences with their creative ability to cover songs from influences such as The Beatles, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, and Wilco. From the first day Josh and Joseph picked up the guitars that they still play with today, it is undeniable that they have a certain chemistry unlike any other. They endlessly continue to write music that captures the hearts and souls of those who dare revel in the emotional journeys they love to take listeners through.
